Wormhole

The wormhole was a portal created by the Chimeran tower network that led from Earth to a planet that was home to the "Pure Chimera".

History[]

After the events of Operation Black Eden, the detonation of the fission bomb at the Chicxulub crater created a massive power surge in the Chimeran tower network that channeled to the Chimeran tower in New York City to open a bridge through space and time, a wormhole, to the Pure Chimera's planet.[1][2]

The wormhole was kept open by the New York Chimeran tower, which fires a particle beam to contact with another beam on the other side of the portal, causing a Lambda particle manifold, connecting two separate regions of space time. The Chimera managed to keep the beams perfectly in phase, factoring in the rotation and orbit of Earth.[3] The wormhole, furthermore, greatly accelerated the terraforming process of freezing Earth to make it more hospitable for the Chimera and wiping out the remnants of humanity in the process. It can be presumed that once Earth would reach its desired temperature and humanity was extinct, millions if not billions of "Pure Chimera" would have used the wormhole to instantly travel to Earth and reclaim it as their planet.[4]

However, the Chimera's ultimate plan for the wormhole was foiled in 1957 by the actions of Joseph Capelli and Charlie Tent. The two humans boarded and sabotaged a Terraformer into crashing into the New York tower and permanently closing the wormhole. Without the wormhole, as a consequence, Earth's temperature was reverted back to normal.[5] Furthermore, the closing of the wormhole became a major turning point for humanity as it seems to cause the Chimera to fall into a disorganized state; presumably with the loss of the "hive mind" from the Pure Chimera's planet the Chimera on Earth were left leaderless and unable to coordinate against humanity. Ultimately the Chimera would suffered many losses, leading to humanity's victory against the Chimera.

Trivia[]

  • Prior to the development of Resistance 3, it was previously speculated by Malikov that the Chimeran towers created a "distortion bubble" in time and space which transported Earth to within orbit of the Pure Chimera's home planet as depicted in the ending of Resistance 2. However, this was retconned in Resistance 3 in which, as confirmed by the Resistance 3 Signature Series Guide, the towers opened a hole through the fabric of space.
