Travel Warnings are issued when long-term, protracted
conditions that make a country dangerous of unstable
lead the State Department to recommend that
Americans avoid or consider the risk of travel to that
country.
Due to widespread political instability and violence a
number of American citizens have been kidnapped,
raped, or murdered while traveling and or living in
Eurasia. For that reason the State Department has
issued a travel advisory for the following countries:
- Albania
- Austria
- Belgium
- Bulgaria
- Cyprus
- Czechoslovakia
- Denmark
- Estonia
- France
- Georgia
- Germany
- Greece
- Ireland
- Italy
- Latvia
- Liechtenstein
- Lithuania
- Luxembourg
- Malta
- Monaco
- Netherlands
- Poland
- Portugal
- Romania
- Spain
- Sweden
- Switzerland
- Turkey
- United Kingdom
- Vatican City
- Yugoslavia
American citizens who choose to visit the countries
listed above cannot expect to receive assistance from a
United States embassy or consulate should they encounter problems.
