Tank Town is a settlement in Kansas formerly known as Salina founded after the United States fell to the Chimera.[1] It was ruled by Boss Orley.
History[]
Founded on what had been Salina, Tank Town was a repurposed oil refinery located near Concordia and U.S. Route 81.[1] By late 1953 it had become a large settlement. Tank Town was very impressive by post-apocalyptic standards; there were electric lights, sleeping cubes that could be rented by the day, separate showers for both sexes, self-service laundry facilities, a medical clinic, three restaurants, a bowl-shaped area used for entertainment and a casino.[1] An empty reservoir onsite was converted into a communal barn for livestock and human slaves.[1]
On August 31, 1953 Tank Town was attacked by the Chimera but the aliens did not destroy the settlement. Tank Town's residents improved their defenses and by October 23 of the same year they were still going strong. Due to the attack in August, Tank Town set up a security system in which visitors must first contact the settlement's coordinator, who would send a guide to meet them at a designated rendezvous, all the while a secondary security team patrol the perimeter and protect the guides. Tank Town could only be entered by travelling upstream at night; this limited the chance of Chimera from learning the settlement was still occupied. Those entering Tank Town had to pay a fee and follow a strict house rule.[1]
Trivia[]
