The New American Empire was a quasi government and self-proclaimed successor state of the United States founded and led by Judge George Ramsey, the leader of Tunnel-Through in Oklahoma. The New American Empire appears in Resistance: A Hole in the Sky.
History[]
In the aftermath of the Chimera's devastation of the United States, former Oklahoman district judge George Ramsey believed that humanity needed a strong authoritarian government to retake Earth from the aliens.[1] Ramsey dubbed this new government the "New American Empire" in which he set himself as its dictator. In order to make his empire into a reality, Ramsey and his collaborators attacked the remnants of the U.S. government in the Ozark National Forest and ransacked a large cache of Hale Vaccines, which he distributed to other human communities in order to buy their loyalty, and annexing them into the Empire. Thus, having enough people to form an effective army, who are immune to the Chimeran virus, to oppose the Chimera.[1]
The New American Empire controls Shipdown, a fallen Chimeran battleship refurbished into a human settlement that manufactures upgraded Chimera-derived weapons. Tunnel-Through only produces ammunition for Shipdown. This arrangement was to keep malcontents from rising up and take over either community.[1]
The Empire later came into conflict against an alliance of human settlements led by the nearby town of Haven and remnants of the U.S. Army. The Empire succeeded in repelling the alliance when they attacked Tunnel-Through. Ramsey planned to launch an assault on Haven but Tunnel-Through came under an overwhelming attack by the Chimera, who were deliberately lured to the settlement by Joseph Capelli. Ramsey and his loyal followers attempted to escape on a train but only to be derailed by Capelli, who then personally killed Ramsey, thus ending the New American Empire.[1]
