McCullen Issues Evacuation Orders To Major Cities

April 30th, 1952

DENVER - Although the crisis in Chicago appears to have been averted for now
President McCullen warned today that the threat is far from over. "We have narrowly
averted disaster in these past days", he announced, "but we have no time to rest. The
enemy will strike again and they will strike soon. We must evacuate all citizens to
within protective boundaries of the Liberty Defense Perimeter." He announced that
the highest population cities along the northern border of the country would be the first
to evacuate to protection camps. Citizens in other areas will receive authorization
papers for evacuation based on a lottery process beginning May 15th.
