Franklin D. Roosevelt

Franklin Delano Roosevelt was the 32nd president of the United States from 1933 until his death in 1945. He was the only president elected to the office four times, in which he led the United States through the Great Depression and World War II. In the alternate timeline of Resistance, Roosevelt prepared his nation against the threat of the Chimera until he was ousted from office by his successor Noah Grace.

Biography[]

During his term in office, Roosevelt was made aware of the Chimera's existence after the discovery of a Chimeran tower was unearthed in Nevada on May 27, 1934. In response, Roosevelt's administration established the Special Research Projects Administration, committed a massive amount of expenditure in the U.S. military, and forged a closer alliance with the United European Defence. Roosevelt also created the Work Progress Administration to create a massive network of roads and infrastructure in America.[1]

Beginning in December 1938, Roosevelt's military expenditure garnered many negative reactions from isolationists, who were ignorant of the Chimeran threat as the government had suppressed their existence in order to prevent mass hysteria, in which they accused Roosevelt of forcing America into interventionism. Among his strongest detractors was Senator Robert Taft who appointed Montanan Republican Senator Noah Grace to lead against Roosevelt's re-election in the 1940 Presidential Elections.[1] Roosevelt refused to reveal the Chimera's existence to the American public to justify their nation's remilitarization and was ultimately defeated in his re-election by Grace, who gained popular support after accusing Roosevelt of being an imperialist and a warmonger.[2][1]
