The Chimeran War was a worldwide conflict between humanity and the alien race known as the Chimera. The war began in 1949 when the Chimera emerged from Russia and rapidly conquered Europe and Asia, converting millions of humans into Chimera in the process. The intentions of the Chimera other than global conquest were mostly unknown until the emergence of advanced alien artifacts, and the unearthing of the Chimeran tower network, led to the realization that the Chimera had once inhabited Earth in eons past, and had returned in an effort to reclaim it for their own purposes.

The conflict would ultimately last for eight years across the world, not counting the twenty inside Russia beforehand. The Chimera expanded at great pace across the planet with the intent of activating the long abandoned tower network and suppressing all human resistance. In the wake of Operation Black Eden, the Chimera's intentions were revealed: to allow Earth to be reconquered by their parent species, the "Pure Chimera", by creating a wormhole to the Chimera's home region of space.

By 1957, the Chimera had secured dominance over most of the planet and about 90% of the human population had been either killed or converted. However, the Chimera's seeming victory was later foiled when the wormhole was closed off from Earth after the Chimeran tower that was maintaining the portal was destroyed by the former Sentinel Joseph Capelli. Without the wormhole, the Chimera on Earth were left stranded and leaderless, allowing humanity to emerge from hiding and gradually reclaim the planet.

The Chimera remaining on Earth would eventually be exterminated, but victory came at a nearly unimaginable cost in lives and environmental damage.

Prelude[]

About 60 million years ago, an alien parasitic race which humanity would come to refer to as the "Chimera," or their progenitor, only dubbed the "Pure Chimera," had once inhabited Earth and was at war with another, unidentified, alien race. This conflict apparently resulted in a catastrophic defeat for the Chimera; the Chicxulub crater remains as evidence of this massive, cataclysmic conflict. In the aftermath, the Chimera and their enemies abandoned Earth, presumably due to the severe damage the conflict had caused to the planet's biosphere. All Chimeran and alien technologies, and other remnants of that war, were left buried and undiscovered until sometime in the 20th century.

In the early 20th century, the Chimera returned, with the intent of reclaiming the planet from humanity. Their arrival on Earth came in the form of a virus-infused meteor which impacted in Siberia in 1908 and was known to humanity as the Tunguska Event.[2] Over the next two decades, the Chimera remained isolated in Siberia and slowly built their strength and numbers by infecting the local people and wildlife around their point of origin. Their activities were mysterious but known to the local humans in the region, in tales told by the Evinki indigenous people in which they spoke of malevolent shamans transforming into demons who devoured animals and left pestilence in their wake.[3] It remains unclear why the Chimera, being a very technologically advanced race, chose to conquer the Earth through a weaponized virus, though it is strongly implied that this was an act of desperation.[4]

Sometime after the Great War, the Crawler strain developed, and whole settlements began to be infected as the pace of infection spread exponentially. This went largely unnoticed due to the sparsely populated nature of the region and its isolation from government oversight, until the Chimera made their presence known to the Russian authorities in 1927.[5]

In the aftermath of the Great War, Russia had entered into a self-imposed isolation amid rising paranoia of supposed "anti-imperialist" influences abroad and in the face of insurgency from within. This isolation from the outside world manifested in the Red Curtain, originally a simple wire barrier along its western borders which evolved into a concrete and steel bastion longer than the Great Wall of China. The distrustful and isolationist policies of the Russian government meant that they did not appeal to the rest of the world for help to crush the Chimera before they could marshal their full and terrible strength.[6]

Early assaults on the Chimera were extremely costly, as the Russian military severely underestimated their alien foe and thousands of Russian soldiers and civilians fell victim to swarms of Crawlers.[6] The Russian government, growing forlorn from their constant defeats, appealed to their scientists for a solution. A breakthrough was discovered by Doctor Fyodor Malikov, who managed to acquire a sample of Pure Chimeran DNA from the crater created by the Tunguska Event and used it to create a vaccine against the Crawler infection. Desperate, the Tsar's government gave the order to have every surviving Russian soldier inoculated with Malikov's vaccine without considering the possible long-term effects.

Initially, the inoculated Russian soldiers were given an even footing against the Chimera due to their immunity to the Chimeran virus and their development of near-superhuman abilities similar to those of the Hybrids. But, by 1930 the vaccine was revealed to be a disaster. In exchange for their immunity, the soldiers developed severe physical mutations and descended into madness, becoming feral cannibals known as the Cloven, who proceeded to desert, attacking any Chimera or human they encountered.[7] With its armies destroyed and its populations naked in the face of what its people came to call "the angry night", the Cloven and the Chimera ransacked what remained of the Russian Empire. Though a number of Cloven and a small number of refugees would escape beyond the Red Curtain into Eastern Europe, there was now nothing to halt the Chimera from building their forces for further conquests.

The world at large remained generally ignorant of the Chimera's existence due to Russia's long absence from international affairs, but the supranational military alliance of European states known as the United European Defence became suspicious of Russia's abrupt silence and grew increasingly concerned on learning reports of towns and cities along the Russian border suddenly depopulated overnight with no apparent signs of violence.[2][8] European officials mistakenly believed that the Russian government were conducting chemical or biological weapons tests on population centers, and the UED prepared for war against Russia.[2][8][9] Although European intelligence agencies and government higher-ups eventually became aware of the Chimera's existence, they erroneously believed them to be the results of a Russian military experiment gone horribly wrong.

The United States government was also made aware of the Chimera after the discovery of several unearthly artifacts across America, such as at Big Scrape Mine, where miners in search of copper accidentally uncovered part of a Chimeran tower. In response to the alien threat, President Franklin Roosevelt clandestinely built up the U.S. military and began attempting to forge closer relations with the United European Defence. The U.S. military's Special Research Projects Administration was established to study the Chimera and develop new technologies, eventually creating an elite group of super-soldiers infused with Chimera DNA called the Sentinels. However, the U.S. soon returned to its isolationist policies and cut its ties with the UED after conservative politician Noah Grace was elected as Roosevelt's successor in 1940.[2] Despite Grace's antiwar stance and his decrying of Roosevelt as a "warmonger", the American military build-up continued, serving to solely defend America from the Chimera. The rest of the world would be left to fend for itself.

The Fall of Europe[]

With Russia overcome, the Chimera's ranks were reinforced by millions of converted Russians. After around a decade of preparation, conversion and construction, they were at last prepared to unleash their forces upon the world.

On December 23, 1949, the Chimera launched a full-scale invasion of Europe.[10] Utlising their preference for colder environments, hordes of Chimeran soldiers and highly advanced war machines broke through Russia's Red Curtain and quickly swept through Europe.[2] Despite the defense contingency plans enacted by the UED, the Chimera's technological superiority, speed and near flawless coordination allowed them to bypass and isolate Eastern Europe's mobile forces and static defenses, such as the Bratislava Line in Czechoslovakia.[2]

The sheer suddenness of the invasion and the utterly alien nature of the Chimera shocked UED military forces and governments, resulting in devastating losses. Through the Chimera's swift and crushing advance, the UED rapidly fell apart and each of the European nations were forced to fend for themselves, sometimes even against their own former allies over military resources.[9] The United Kingdom, though a member of the UED, began funneling its limited resources into the Avalon One refugee initiative, seemingly deeming European defense a foregone conclusion. The UED responded by severing intelligence sharing with the UK government and armed forces, and confiscating British military equipment on the continent.[11]

A humanitarian crisis of unparalleled proportions was developing. Mass influxes of Eastern European refugees frantically moved westward and packed into cramped refugee camps in Western Europe, mostly in Germany, and along the Atlantic coast of France. Czechoslovakia and Poland quickly fell to the Chimera in early 1950, as many populated cities were struck by Spire missiles carrying the Crawler strain which infected further millions and left less than a thousand survivors to straggle to the west.[2]

On the eastern borders of Germany, counterattacks along the River Oder by German armored forces were utterly crushed by more advanced Chimeran war machines, including the massive Goliaths.[12] Unable to contain the enemy, and overwhelmed by refugees, the German government collapsed, enduring just long enough to order a retreat to the Rhine and a mass evacuation of all its cities. Berlin and Munich fell to Spire attacks, becoming "ghost towns" and the final holdouts of German resistance in the city of Bonn were overcome by the spring of 1950.[13]

The governments of Luxembourg and Germany ordered a series of scorched earth policies after the collapse of the line along the River Rhine, destroying anything suspected of being of value to the Chimera from Bonn to Luxembourg under the erroneous belief it would slow the Chimera's advance.[14] The United States government, in response to the shockingly small number of human survivors that escaped the cities, were forced to realize the threat posed by the Chimera and allowed some military support to Europe while at the same time they began censoring knowledge of the Chimera's existence from the American public, hiding the truth behind the lie of the "European Influenza" pandemic.[2]

The Chimeran expansion eventually came to Italy, the last nation on mainland Europe to be conquered. UED forces reestablished a line of defense in the north of the country, culminating into the Siege of Genoa in January 1950.[2] During the Siege, Italian soldiers were psychologically overwhelmed by the Chimera, whom they referred to as "the deathless plague." The Italian military's morale, irreparably undermined by the Chimera's superhuman abilities and ferocity, resulted in hundreds committing suicide rather than risk infection and becoming the "unholy" Chimera. Though it robbed the Chimera of more humans to infect, it only served to hasten Genoa's downfall and led to the Chimera taking full control of mainland Europe.[2] What remained of the UED banded together and waged a guerrilla war against Chimeran occupation as a multinational resistance group known as the Maquis.

With the fall of continental Europe completed by March 1950, only the United Kingdom remained free from the Chimera. Since the outbreak of the war, the British government had evacuated 300,000 people to Australia while three million more were later evacuated to Greenland and Canada. To avoid Britain's strongly established coastal defenses, the Chimera secretly burrowed under the channel, emerging to invade the United Kingdom in early October 1950.[2]

Though they had prepared for the invasion, the British military ultimately collapsed under the might of the Chimera's onslaught. The primary headquarters of the British Army, Central Command, was destroyed after the Chimera, who had initially failed to take the installation by conventional assault, redirected the River Thames into it and flooded the majority of the otherwise sealed facility. Only roughly 200 or so of the initial 14,000 defenders and other occupants survived.

The Chimera advanced across Britain, infecting and converting vast swathes of the population, as well as establishing infrastructure of their own. The tattered remnants of the British military abandoned the major population centers and retreated to scattered military bases and outposts throughout the country.[8] Though the British pursued a vicious and determined guerrilla campaign, their efforts posed no major threat to the Chimera. With the fall of the UK, Western Europe was, to all practical purposes, lost to the Chimera, their victory being near total.

Operation Morning Star[]

Following the fall of Europe to the Chimera, the British military desperately sought American military aid. A negotiation between U.S. President Noah Grace and Captain Rachel Parker, the highest ranking British military officer at that time, agreed on an exchange of resources. A full division of 12,000 American soldiers to be sent to assist the beleaguered nation, while a captured powerful Chimeran creature, an Angel, would be given to the U.S. for study.[8] The campaign, known as Operation Morning Star, would become a key turning point in the war against the Chimera.

American and British forces initiated Operation Deliverance as 5,000 American troops were to be flown into the city of York, where they intended to establish a beachhead and rendezvous with Captain Parker to make the exchange. Unfortunately, Parker and her convoy were ambushed and taken prisoner by the Chimera in Manchester and taken to a conversion center in Grimsby while the British were engaged in a full-scale battle to keep the Chimera from reclaiming the Angel. The Americans at York were consequently on their own, fighting an enemy they knew little about.[8]

Chimeran War

York had been chosen as a landing zone due to little Chimeran activity in the area. However, Cloven forces had, for reasons of their own, succeeded in luring a substantial Chimeran force to York without British or American Intelligence becoming aware. Once in place, the landing turned into a massacre, with most of the troop transports shot down by anti-aircraft guns as they tried to land.[8] The surviving American forces regrouped under the command of Captain Winters and seized control of an abandoned bus depot to use as a landing zone for further waves of reinforcements. They were able to repulse the Chimera long enough for tanks to arrive to secure the area, but the Chimera responded in typical fashion, with a Spire attack that devastated the landing force once their initial assault failed.[8] Of the 5,000 troops dropped into York, none but Sergeant Nathan Hale survived due to the partial immunity to the virus he had gained as a result of being a test subject in Project Abraham.

Hale was taken, along with his infected comrades, to the Grimsby conversion center. He was able to escape the facility, and freed Captain Parker in the process.[15] The pair were able to summon a rescue, then flew directly to Manchester to join the battle to recapture the Angel.[16] The creature was delivered to Northern Command in Cheshire but only to come under attack by Chimeran forces. Hale was forced to kill the Angel after it tried to control his infected mind.[17] British forces continued their campaign with Hale's assistance, and Operation Shear led to the partial discovery of a buried Chimeran tower in Nottingham, and the massive extent of the Chimeran tower network discovered by Hale and Lieutenant Stephen Cartwright.[18]

The Battle of London

British and American forces during the Battle of London.

Following the loss of Northern Command, Southern Command in Bristol was attacked and likewise destroyed, forcing the British to retreat to one of their last remaining outposts in Cardiff.[19] Shortly after their arrival, they received a radio broadcast from Hale (who had left on his own shortly after the evacuation of Southern Command) and were informed that he had managed to make his way deep into Chimera-occupied London, stating his belief that destroying the Chimeran tower in the city would likely eradicate the Chimera in the UK entirely.[20]

Captain Parker managed to convince the remaining American and British military forces under her command to launch a full-scale assault on London, culminating in the Battle of London. After arriving in London nearly unscathed, the joint forces advanced on the tower, pausing only to destroy Tower Bridge and Southwark Bridge so Chimeran forces from North of the River Thames could not interfere and then began to lay siege to the tower.[21] Simultaneously, Hale along with several other soldiers, infiltrated the tower to destroy it from the inside.

The battle ultimately dissolved into a chaotic bloodbath, as human forces were swiftly forced onto the defensive after beginning their assault. Unable to hold back the apparently unending legions of Chimera that emerged to defend the tower, the human forces began to fall back. However, the tide turned as Hale and the other soldiers managed to reach and overload the tower's main reactor by destroying its reactor cooling rods, causing a massive explosion that destroyed the tower. The tower's destruction had several major consequences: the London tower's central position in the network triggered a chain reaction that destroyed every tower in Britain and killing the Angels within. Unable to survive without the controlling presence of the Angels, all Chimeran creatures across the country collapsed and died within minutes.[22] For the first time in the war, the Chimera had suffered a total defeat, and Britain was freed from the Chimera's occupation. This event marked a key turning point in the war.

With the lull that followed, the British began to rebuild their country's infrastructure, recovering 921 survivors (78 of them children) in rural areas, and began trying to better understand their enemy with the sudden bounty of available specimens and technology. Nathan Hale, the man responsible for this victory, was declared killed in action by the Americans as his body was never found following the tower's destruction; in truth, he was recovered a short time after the battle by a SRPA Black Ops unit under the command of Major Richard Blake, who was under orders to reclaim any surviving personnel attached to Project Abraham.[22] Hale was subsequently inducted into the Sentinel Program.

Operation Overstrike[]

Main article: Operation Overstrike

Following the victory in London, the Maquis approached the British in requesting for their aid in destroying the central Chimeran tower in Paris, France that would liberate Western Europe from Chimeran control. At the same time, Lieutenant Raine Bouchard recruited disgraced British soldier James Grayson and offered him a reprieve in exchange for serving as a mercenary under command of the Maquis and provide them with information on the conversion centers.

The British and the Maquis initiated Operation Overstrike on August 30, 1951 which began to a disastrous start with much of the first wave of the operation was shot down by Chimeran Gun Towers built along the coast of Rotterdam. The combined British and Maquis forces were able to destroy these defenses and land in Rotterdam, and then reinforced the Maquis' key stronghold in Luxembourg.[23] The Chimera would later discover the Luxembourg base and launch a full-scale attack. Lieutenant Bouchard, along with her father Dr. Claude Bouchard were able to create a serum that would halt the Chimera's new conversion process by eliminating the Carrier strain, though Claude was killed, and James Grayson discovered that Raine had purposefully allowed herself to be infected with the Chimeran virus to perfect the serum.[24] With Luxembourg lost, the British and Maquis fell back to their final stronghold in Reims, where they began to plan for their final attack on Paris. It was decided that the Allied forces are to be launched on two fronts: Colonel Rachel Parker and Major Stephen Cartwright would lead a full-scale attack on the Chimeran tower as a distraction for Raine Bouchard and Colonel Roland Mallery to try to infiltrate the Chrysalis Lair, the central hub of the Chimera's new conversion process, and infect it with Claude Bouchard's serum, eradicating the Carrier strain.[25]

However, Grayson tried to warn of Raine's infection and feared the worst that she was compromised. His warnings went unheeded by the Maquis in which Mallery had Grayson locked up for insubordination. However, Grayson was freed by Parker and Cartwright, and was given a second vial of Bouchard's serum in case she failed in her mission. Grayson succeeded in infecting the Chrysalis Lair, but at the cost of Mallery and Bouchard's lives. Though the Chimera's new conversion process was stopped, it was only a temporary victory at best, for the Chimera had already evolved a new means to convert humans.[26]

Along with the eradication of the Carrier strain, the Paris tower was destroyed and, just like in London, set off a chain reaction that destroyed every tower and freed much of Western Europe from the Chimera, though they still retained the Mediterranean, Eastern Europe and Russia. Even more concerning, the Chimera began constructing and preparing fleets of airborne battleships for a new assault. European forces would renew their offensive into Eastern Europe, with intentions of reaching Russia and uncovering the source of the Chimera's invasion, in the hope it might yield some yet-undiscovered information or insight into their enemy.[26]

Intermediate Years[]

From 1952 to 1953, not long after the conclusion of Operation Overstrike, British and Maquis forces under the command of Colonels Parker and Grayson launched a full-scale attack on Warsaw with the intent of liberating the city, and Poland, from the Chimera. The battle ended with the tower's destruction on June 12, 1953, but at a great cost to the British and Maquis, who suffered severe losses, notably James Grayson, who disappeared in the battle and has since been declared missing in action. However, unknown to all, Grayson survived and managed to infiltrate Russia, though he was somehow infected with the Chimeran virus. His fate, at present, remains unknown.[26]

The Chimera, despite the loss of the tower network in Europe, launched attacks on both Axbridge and Bracknell, hoping to both regain a foothold in Britain and forcing Rachel Parker to divert troops back to the defense of Britain, causing a reduction of troop numbers in Europe that the Chimera could overwhelm at their leisure. Fortunately, the actions of SRPA's Specter Team thwarted the Chimera's plan in Operations Allied Shield and Viper Pit, both preventing them from starting a new invasion of Britain and weakening the defenses of the Chimeran towers in Europe.

Despite the Chimera's catastrophic defeat in Britain and Europe, the Chimera were quick to reform their command structure and strategies under an entity called Daedalus.[27] An unforeseen byproduct of SRPA's Project Abraham, Daedalus was a former human previously known as Jordan Shepherd who was infused with Pure Chimeran DNA and given powerful telepathic abilities. Daedalus escaped from SRPA and took command of the Chimera. Through Daedalus, the Chimera operate independently of the Angels in favor of more powerful Chimera equal to the Angel strain, thus denying humans from defeating the Chimera by targeting the Angels and focus only on eliminating higher ranking Chimeran command units.[28] Furthermore, Daedalus retained his human knowledge of military defenses and weaknesses, and applying them to the Chimera's tactics that benefited them in expanding their unrelenting advance across the planet.[29]

In April 1952, the Chimera launched new incursions into Africa at a staggering pace. The Chimera launched a series of initial attacks via airships along the northern coasts on April 6. At the time, military analysis believed that Africa would prove too hot for the Chimera to survive beyond the coastal regions; however, the Chimera have evolved newer strains of the Chimeran virus along with more advanced heat radiation implants that allowed their troops to withstand much higher temperatures.[30] Once the Chimera established footholds along the African coastlines they were able to quickly build large quantities of infrastructure, including conversion centers, and factories for their war machines. In the last few days the Chimera have swept across Africa with truly unimaginable speed. According to British aerial reconnaissance, Chimeran forces have already begun excavation of at least twenty-three towers across the continent. Although their fuel reserves were dangerously low, the British had used naval aircraft carriers to evacuate over 170,000 African civilians from the northern and western coasts.[30]

On July 30, U.S. military forces in Panama City sighted four Chimeran airships flying southeast toward Colombia. In the ensuing three days the airships blanketed South America with wave after wave of Spire missiles. U.S. reconnaissance estimated that the Chimera targeted every city with a population over 100,000. The Chimera then proceeded to excavate the Chimeran towers across South America.[31]

Invasion of the United States[]

Main article: Invasion of the United States

On August 14, 1951, the Chimera launched their invasion of the United States by besieging the states of New York, New Hampshire, and Vermont with Spire missiles.[5] American military forces were able to withstand the Chimeran assault long enough to quarantine the infected areas. Months before, Canada was invaded by the Chimera with similar results to New England, but on a greater scale, and posed a greater threat to America's Northwestern regions.[32]

Damaged Street

In October, the American Northwest fell to the Chimera from massive Spire bombardments.[33] In late 1951, no longer believing a military victory to be possible against the Chimera, President Noah Grace enacted Project Omega, a top-secret contingency plan that proposed negotiating a truce with the Chimera. The plan required Daedalus, since he was the only Chimeran entity capable of intelligent communication, and so he was captured and brought to the negotiations at a secret military facility in Sheridan, Wyoming. Negotiations began in December, culminating on December 25 when Grace made Daedalus the ultimate offer: the Chimera could have the rest of the world, provided they left the United States in peace. However, Daedalus had no intentions of keeping any such bargain and was amused by Grace's presumption. The negotiations was soon interrupted by Nathan Hale, who learned the truth of Project Omega and executed Grace for his betrayal to humanity. Daedalus made good use of the confusion to escape. In the aftermath, Grace's death was covered up as a sudden illness and was succeeded by Vice President Harvey McCullen.[34]

Under McCullen's leadership, the United States began making preparations for the inevitable Chimeran onslaught. By July 1952, the Liberty Defense Perimeter, a safe zone in the middle of America for the American population to outlast and defend against the invasion, was completed, and plans were drawn up to begin evacuating civilians to the LDP. Many other measures were taken, including a repeal on the immigration ban to help bolster troop numbers, the enactment of Operation Aloha that enforce the evacuation of several hundred thousand civilians to Hawaii, and numerous military strikes into gray territory to slow the mobilization of Chimeran forces.

Finally, on May 15, 1953, the Chimera launched a full-scale invasion on the U.S. through a large fleet of airships under the command of Daedalus.[35] The fleet served with the intended goal of unearthing and activating the Chimeran towers within America. Though SRPA and the American military fought hard, and made the Chimera pay dearly for every inch of ground they gained, by May 28, the Liberty Defense Perimeter fell to the invaders, causing the deaths of 63-80 million people, including President McCullen and his cabinet.[36]

Operation Black Eden[]

Main article: Operation Black Eden

By June 1953, the Chimera had all but overrun America. The remnants of the American military and government took refuge, along with three million civilians, in their last stronghold at the Baton Rouge Protection Camp in Louisiana. Having seemingly achieved victory, the Chimeran fleet traveled to the Chicxulub crater in Mexico, where the power from the entire Chimeran tower network was being channeled into Daedalus's flagship.

Although SRPA have no knowledge on the Chimeran towers and their purposes, at the direction of Dr. Fyodor Malikov, SRPA organized a desperate gambit in destroying the Chimeran fleet with a nuclear weapon and thwart whatever plan the Chimera intended to enact. Led by Major Richard Blake, he and Sentinel Team Echo, consisting only Nathan Hale and Joseph Capelli, infiltrated Daedalus' flagship and planted a fission bomb. However, Daedalus discovered their infiltration in which Blake and his men were killed, and the Chimera attempted to dispose of the bomb. Hale was able to kill Daedalus and activated the bomb. Hale and Capelli evacuated the flagship seconds before the bomb detonated. The flagship and the fleet was obliterated in the nuclear explosion.[37] Unfortunately, however, humanity discovered too late that the nuclear detonation created a large energy surge throughout the tower network to New York City, where the city's hub tower was charged with enough power to open a wormhole to another part of space leading to the "Pure Chimera's" home world.[38]

Post-1957[]

Following the events of Operation Black Eden, by 1957, 90% of the human population were killed or converted in the conflict and any sense of a united military resistance to the Chimera was hopelessly non-existent, except for certain pockets of human survivors who were forced into a guerrilla war in an effort for survival. The Chimera were the dominant force on Earth. Without the need for human hosts for conversion as their virus can now be cured by the Hale Vaccine, and humanity is rendered to near extinction, the Chimera began an extermination campaign in wiping out the remaining 10% of the human race and furthered that by initiating a terraforming operation to cool Earth into a harsh, colder environment, from utilizing the tower network powered by the wormhole.

However, the Chimera’s reign soon came undone by the actions of former Sentinel Joseph Capelli. Through incredible odds, Capelli succeeded in permanently closing the wormhole to the Chimera's home planet by crashing a terraformer into the New York tower.[39] This resulted in Earth's temperatures returning back to normal. The loss of the wormhole proved to be the turning point of the Chimeran War. Without the cold climate to support them and severed from the Pure Chimera’s hive mind, the Chimera began losing their advantages against humanity. In an undetermined time, humanity has finally won the war and began to rebuild their civilization.
