The Chimeran Fleet attacking San Francisco.

The Chimeran fleet was a massive, aerial Chimeran armada, consisted of many large airborne battleships, supported by hundreds of smaller fighters, dropships, and medium-sized ships of an unknown class. It was led by Daedalus' flagship. The fleet was the primary attack force that invaded the United States in May 1953.

History

The fleet was constructed in massive construction yards across Europe, in places such as Gerolstein, Germany.[1] Chimeran airships were first constructed in August and September 1951 in which European intelligence at the time were initially wary of their intended targets and destinations. By 1952, the fleet was responsible for expanding the Chimera's onslaught in Africa and South America, and even took part in recon missions to scout the United States coastlines, and launched Spire attacks on areas such as Orick, California and the American Southeastern states. As of January 10, 1953, the fleet was composed of more than eighty airships.[2]

The fleet ultimately launched an invasion of the United States on May 15, 1953 with the intentions of activating the dormant Chimeran towers within the North American mainland. During the invasion, the fleet attempted to breach the Liberty Defense Perimeter at Twin Falls, Idaho, but was repulsed by SRPA.[3] However, the fleet later launched a massive assault on the LDP at the southern perimeter on May 28, in which they successfully broke through and relentlessly launched Spire missiles on the civilian population.[4] Thereafter, the fleet gathered at the Chicxulub crater in Mexico with the purpose to harness the energies from the activated tower network into Daedalus' flagship to open a portal to the Chimera's home planet. The fleet was annihilated by the detonation of a fission bomb in Daedalus's flagship during Operation Black Eden.[5]

Organization

The fleet consists of multiple battleships, a command ship, and many smaller cruiser and destroyer analogues. The fleet was heavily armed and was equipped to carry a large invasion force, supported by heavy vehicles. The fleet's battleships apparently serve as energy conduits in Daedalus' plan for the Chimeran tower network.

Miscellaneous

There are still many unknown types of aircraft that appear in the Chimeran fleet. There are also aircrafts that only appear in a trailer for Resistance 2. It seems that these aircrafts were cut from the final game.
