Chicxulub Crater is the tenth and final campaign level of Resistance 2.

Synopsis

After securing a Chimeran Shuttle, Echo Team and Blake smuggled the nuclear bomb to Daedalus' flagship. Once on board, the task force splits up: Blake and a squad of Black Ops takes the bomb to the flagship's core reactor while Hale and Capelli access the control room to shut down the reactor's cooling shields. After the shields are shut down, Blake's group are attacked and killed in an ambush, and the Chimera captures the bomb and takes it to Daedalus, who attempt to dispose of it.

Hale reaches the bomb at the core and is confronted by Daedalus. An intense battle ensues in which Hale succeeds in killing Daedalus. While examining Daedalus' corpse, Hale inadvertently absorbs Daedalus' psychokinetic abilities. Hale activates the bomb and make a harrowing run back to the shuttle with Capelli while destroying Chimera with his newly acquired powers. The bomb destroys the fleet but the explosion creates an electromagnetic pulse that shuts down Echo's shuttle, causing it to crash land.

Capelli wakes up and finds Hale not in the shuttle. He walks outside to find Hale staring at sky, which is now occupied with several planet-like objects. Hale turns around to Capelli and reveals to have fully succumbed to the virus. Hale, his voice eerily similar to Daedalus, tells Capelli: "They are calling to us. Can you hear them?... It's beautiful." Capelli draws his pistol on Hale but he is very reluctant to shoot him. Hale then ominously informs Capelli that "this is just the beginning." With no other choice, Capelli fatally shoots Hale in the head.

Trivia

• At the scene where Major Blake and X-Ray Squad had died, Capelli says "shit" at the end of a sentence when the subtitles read "fuck".
• Blake's corpse and the remains of X-Ray Squad can eventually be found while trying to retrieve Nellie. They are in the same area with the Titan carrying the nuke while being escorted by two Ravagers.
• When Hale is chasing down Nellie, the group of Chimera that had taken the bomb can be watched through the use of a Fareye rifle. The Ravager in command of the group can be seen violently striking and killing a Hybrid.
