- "We fight, or we die. I'm guessin' by virtue of the fact that you're still breathin', You're one of the fightin' type, like us."
- ―Charlie Tent
Charlie Tent is a resistance fighter in Resistance 3, who leads the Remnants in St. Louis.
Biography
Charlie was the son of a U.S. senator and was enrolled into Harvard University by his father to become a politician. However, Charlie did not accept his father's aspirations and instead decided to enlist in the military. While en route to Harvard, Charlie diverted to Fort Benning, broke into the commander's office, and forged documents declaring him a sergeant.[1]
After the United States fell to the Chimera, Charlie rallied like-minded individuals to continue their fight against the aliens, forming a rag-tag resistance group known as "the Remnants". Charlie also continued to maintain his facade as a high-ranking military officer. Although this was eventually debunked by some of his experienced Remnants, such as Ellis Turner, some new recent members such as Glenda were temporarily fooled.
Charlie's craftiness had enabled the Remnants to survive in the ruined city of St. Louis as his fellow resistance fighters defer to him in an almost reverential manner as the final authority on all matters. However, his daredevil streak leaves him prone to occasionally reckless course of action when confronting the Chimera.[2]

In August 1957, Charlie and the Remnants engaged in a tense firefight with the Chimera and became separated from Ellis' group. Charlie came across Dr. Malikov, who was gravely sick, before reuniting with Ellis and the others when Joseph Capelli saved them. Charlie was impressed by Capelli's actions and he bargains him over a bottle of penicillin, which Malikov needs for his infection, in exchange for his assistance to obtain a Chimeran power core from a Chimeran Dropship for the Remnants' U/AV-17 Hawk. Capelli agreed to his offer, though he demanded transport to New York City once Malikov has recovered.
Charlie, the Remnants, and Capelli launched an ambush on a patrolling dropship, but inadvertently drew the attention of Chimeran reinforcements and a feral Widowmaker. Despite the odds, the group procured the power core while Capelli managed to slay the Widowmaker, leaving Charlie further impressed and fulfilled his promise to Capelli.
After repairing the VTOL, Charlie and Ellis flew Capelli and Malikov to New York. During a flight over Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania, Capelli abruptly asked Charlie to turn their destination to Baxter Springs to check on his family. Before Charlie can make sense of Joseph's words, their VTOL came under attack by a Chimeran dropship patrol. The attack left Capelli falling off the VTOL and forcing Charlie and Ellis to retreat before dropping Malikov and as well following on Capelli's request to find his family.
Charlie discovered Susan and Jack Capelli before the former requested Charlie to bring Capelli back to Baxter Springs. He and Ellis flew to New York and rescued Capelli after he had been cornered by the Chimera. After Charlie explained to Capelli about Susan, Capelli convinced Charlie to help him commandeer a Terraformer in order to crash it into the New York tower, and thereby closing the wormhole and end the Chimera's terraforming process. Together with Capelli, they raided the Terraformer and destabilize its power core room, sending it on a collision course to the tower. Charlie and Ellis once again saved Capelli and escaped the city before the wormhole is sealed off.
Charlie Ellis later brought Capelli back to his family before departing back to St. Louis.
Personality
Charlie is an intelligent and brave yet cocky man who is brazened to fight the Chimera. He maintains a strong skepticism of outsiders and drives a hard bargain until his trust is earned. Nevertheless, he is loyal to a fault to those who have proven themselves, and he cares deeply for those under his command.[2]

Trivia
- Unlike Stephen Cartwright or Richard Blake, Charlie Tent is the only supporting lead character who is a civilian rather than a member of the military (despite having enlisted in the U.S. military illegally) in the original trilogy.
