Canada is a country occupying most of northern North America, extending from the Atlantic Ocean in the east to the Pacific Ocean in the west and northward into the Arctic Ocean. It is the world's second largest country by total area and shares land borders with the United States to the south and northwest.

In 1947, American philanthropist Reinhardt Quimbie financed an archaeological expedition to Canada's Llwewllyn Glacier Caves in British Columbia where he discovered the fossilized remains of prehistoric birds that are perfectly preserved in metallic shells belonging to an ancient Chimeran spacecraft.[1] Quimbie's findings allowed the Special Research Projects Administration to determine that the Chimera had been present on Earth for more than 10 million years.[2]

During the Chimeran War, Canada was an alternative refuge for displaced refugees who were turned away from the United States under the Grace Administration.[3] However, on July 23, 1951 the Chimera launched a massive spire bombardment on Quebec City.[4] The Canadian government was totally overwhelmed by the attack and was unsure in how to handle it as millions were killed in the initial attacks and hundreds of thousands of people were infected and brought to local hospitals that were quickly flooded with patients.[4] Unlike the American government, the Canadian government allowed the civilian population to refer to the Chimeran attacks as what they truly were: an alien invasion.[4]

Given Canada's inexperience in combating the Chimera, the invaders easily conquered the nation, allowing Chimeran forces to invade the northern parts of the United States - specifically the American Upper Midwest regions. Canadian refugees were denied asylum in the United States during the early stages of the crisis, under the false pretenses of preventing an infectious pandemic.[5] By November 1951, Canada fell to the Chimera.[6]
