Bryce Canyon is the sixth campaign level of Resistance 2.

Synopsis[]

Following the activation of Twin Falls' defense towers, Nathan Hale receive a distress radio message from Dr. Fyodor Malikov, who is stationed at Station Genesis in Bryce Canyon, Utah, and is under siege by the Chimeran fleet's flagship, which breached through the Liberty Defense Perimeter. After disregarding a recommended inhibitor treatment, Hale and along with a squad of Black Ops travel to Bryce Canyon via VTOL in heed of Malikov's help.

Hale and his squad fight their way through Station Genesis before being confronted by a swarm of insectoid creatures known as "The Swarm," which literally tears apart any human in its path. The Swarm is immune to gunfire and Hale and his men are forced to flee until only Hale remains.

Hale is able to successfully retrieve Malikov but not before encountering Daedalus again, who activates Bryce Canyon's Chimeran tower and enigmatically warns Hale that Earth belongs to the Chimera and that "your skies will shine with our stars" before leaving. Malikov explains to Hale that Daedalus used to be a human known as Jordan Adam Sheppard who, along with Hale, was part of Project Abraham. Sheppard was part of Malikov's experiment, who and along with Hale were injected with Pure Chimeran DNA. Unlike Hale, who had the Pure Chimeran DNA become dormant until his re-infection in Britain, Sheppard's injection drastically mutated his body into the barely human form of Daedalus, and gave him knowledge of the Chimera's origins and goals, and the power to control their armies.

Hale and Malikov escaped Station Genesis after successfully eliminating The Swarm by weakening it with electricity. Upon reuniting with Echo Team, Joseph Capelli angrily berates Hale for neglecting his needed inhibitor treatment and forewarn his commanding officer that he will not hesitate to kill him if he turns. In response, Hale grabs Capelli by the throat and accepts his 'offer' before putting him down and proceeding to Chicago, in order to deactivate one of several activated Chimeran towers that are slowly powering up.

Trivia[]

  • In the score card at the end of this level, it is strangely called the "Badlands".
  • This is the only level in the Resistance series that has dynamite in it, which can explode if you shoot at it.
  • In the Helipad zone there are 2 secret ravagers, these won´t spawn only if the player kills the two titans before trying to get to the helipad.
  • In the Station Genesis Perimeter mission, just before entering the cave, if you don't defeat all the hybrids outside, they will enter the cave to regroup, in the Station Genesis Entrance mission something similar happens, in the tunnels of the chimeras, if you take too long to defeat the Steelheads or just kill one of them, they will start to regroup.
  • When the player has to use the tunnels to flank a group of hybrids and ravagers on a bridge, if the player stays on the elevator down to the bridge for too long hybrids will begin throwing spider grenades at them.
