A blast root is a volatile Chimeran plant. It is recognizable for its large, glowing orange bud containing explosive chemicals that can be detonated from firearms. These roots can be useful as an organic landmine during battle. Blast roots are found sporadically across different environments as part of the Chimera's terraformation process.

- If the player had sucessfully made 100 blast roots explode either by shooting or using explosives they receive the trophy "Gardener".
- They are the only known Chimeran plants on Earth other than the seemingly living vine-like conduits.
