Anais was a nurse in France. The working condidtions were very diffucult. She remembers that they would blacken the windows at night and work by candlelight. According to Anais, many of the survivors had an "empty look" in their eyes. The nurses would sometimes try to talk to them, but it was useless.
She also remembers holding a baby whose parents had been killed. Anais thought about all the gruesome things the baby had already seen.
